I don't mind the Kardashians. I seriously don't. I don't follow any member of this family on any of my social media channels (except their MUA). I am not an avid gossip magazine reader either (apart from the odd outdated issue at the doctors!). I have never watched any episode of their hit TV series - Keeping up with the Kardashians. I know the family members by name, thanks to the myriad news articles on them. So essentially the only time I hear or see them is when something big happens..like Kim leaving her ex-husband 72 hours after their very flash wedding a few years ago (a record!), Khloe's ex found overdosed in a brothel, Kim naming her kids North West & Saint West or when Bruce Jenner came out as a Transgender and converted to Caitlyn Jenner. That was surely the biggest blow! Back then, I believed the whole scenario to be a publicity stunt but it actually turned out to be true when Bruce debuted at Caitlyn and changed from a He to a She. How brave of him/her I thought! And I still do!
She is out with full force- a reality show in her kitty, back to good terms with family and a collection with MAC Cosmetics. Yep! All this talk to come to this.

The Caitlyn Jenner collection is out and is available in MAC stores near you (Jan 2017). Its not a very huge collection- 3 lip glasses, 2 lipsticks, 3 eyeshadows, 2 lip liners, An eye pencil, a duo blush, a Mineralize Skinfinish powder and a pair of lashes. The collection does showcase her taste though- understated and elegant. The products tend to be on the natural side, aiming for that no- makeup makeup look. I got sent 4 products from the collection- Rockit! Lipstick, Tolerance Cremesheen lip glass, Soar lip liner and duo blush in 'Buddy'. The packaging is pure class! Its not tacky, its not cheap. Black and gold. Looove!
I checked out and swatched the entire collection in-store and definitely felt that I was sent the best of the bunch. The Soar and Whirl lipliners (RRP $38 NZD) are the Kardashian Family favorites (cue Kylie Jenner) so it's great to see them both in this collection by Caitlyn.
Both the lipsticks- Rockit! & Authentic Red (RRP $42)- in this collection are Cremesheen formula so not entirely my forte but great for anyone who prefers natural moisturising finish. The shade Rockit! leans towards the brown territory on my medium skin and matched by lips more or less.
On my lips I started with Soar lip liner (that is the first few pics), then topped the liner with Rockit! Lipstick (which can hardly be seen). I then finished the look with Tolerance Cremesheen glass. Ofcorse I have the Buddy blush on!
I certainly got the best lip glass out of the 3 shades available. Tolerance Cremesheen glass ($50) is a beautiful pink with a hint of purple & has a very fine gold shimmer in it. Its pigmented and looks great on, with or without the lipstick underneath. The other 2 shades 'Kindness' and 'Beautifully Bare' are a clear shimmery gold and a pretty pink respectively.
Now dare I step outside with my unruly hair & lip gloss on lips in this wild Auckland weather. Lets not even talk about weather. Feb's here and summer's nowhere.
The Powder Blush duo 'Buddy' is a treat with its gold compact that could easily be a collector's item. The blush powder itself is a beautiful rosy pink, somewhat like Soar lip liner..a little pink, a little neutral, a lil to the brown side. The other shade in compact is a shimmery peachy pink that is absolutely gorgeous and pigmented. Yep! both the powders are really pigmented. I still have to learn the art of not being heavy handed while applying blush. Both the shades are non-powdery & soft. You gotta take care to not over-do this one. The blush looks amazing on. With the amount needed, this compact is going to last me 20 years..no kidding!
The eyeshadows in the collection are everyday staples- a gold (Glowing Gold, $40), a plum (Worthy) and a shimmery ash brown (Malibu Bronze). All 3 of them are ace. My favorite is the Malibu Bronze shade in Veluxe Pearl formula- super pigmented & buttery. I'm not a fan of the plum shade due to its Velvet formula. I had to swatch it multiple times to get that color.
That's the Collection summary from me. I love the names like Tolerance, Worthy, buddy, Beautifully Bare, Kindness and Compassion. The names are very powerful and tell a story of the kind of collection that she envisioed- All races, All Ages, All sexes.
In summary, the collection is nice and elegant. Its certainly not unique or groundbreaking but the packaging slays. If you don't mind the Jenners name embrossed on, go on and take a pick.
Did you like the look I created? I ceratinly couldn't resist trying this makeup on with a bright matte red, MAC 'Feels so Grand'. I love this liquid lipstick so much!
Now I'm confused between nude and red lip! Which one do you like better? Talk to me in the comments below :)
